Crowns & Bridges

Missing and damaged teeth can make life a lot more challenging. You might feel embarrassed to smile and laugh with your friends and loved ones. You may also have difficulties chewing the nutritious foods you need to stay healthy.

At Seacrest Dental, we have a number of general dentistry treatments for repairing and replacing problem teeth, including crowns and bridges. Additionally, our local lab technician allows us to get the perfect shade and shape for your crowns allowing us to get the very best results for you.

What Is a Dental Crown?

A dental crown is a prosthetic that is shaped to mimic a tooth. It is placed over the top of your own tooth like a cap (hence the crown’s nickname of “cap”). Crowns can be made from a number of materials, including porcelain and metal. We like to use porcelain crowns because they have the strength and durability you need and want without sacrificing aesthetics. In fact, today’s porcelain dental crowns look so much like natural teeth, that most people will never know the difference.

Crowns can solve a range of dental problems, and are used to improve both function and cosmetic appearance. Some of the issues that we treat with crowns here in our Seagrove and Miramar Beach dental offices include:

  • Severely chipped or cracked teeth
  • Broken teeth
  • Teeth that are deeply stained or discolored
  • Improperly shaped teeth that are affecting your bite or the appearance of your smile
  • Teeth that are fragile or brittle because of dental treatments

If you have a tooth that is causing problems, we are happy to assess the situation and see if a crown is the right treatment for you.

What Is a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge uses crowns to suspend an artificial tooth in the space left by a missing tooth; it literally “bridges” the gap to create a seamless appearance in your smile. The crowns that hold the artificial tooth (which we call a pontic) in place can be placed over the tops of the adjacent teeth or dental implants (which is a great option if you are missing more than one tooth since implants help to prevent bone loss and preserve your remaining teeth).

Like crowns, bridges are designed to fit flawlessly into your smile so that you can feel comfortable and confident again.
